Welcome to
Appelman Financial
Seminars and Workshops
On August 12, 2008, Appelman Financial delivered a timely seminar about
gas leases at the Northern Columbia Community and Cultural Center

in Benton, PA.  Lynn Appelman delivered a seminar to people who had been
approached for Natural Gas lease payments or lived in that area.  We wanted
to make folks aware of tax consequences, tax reduction strategies and
investment choices
up-front.  Our seminar was covered on the front page by
the Press Enterprise the following day--

On Thursday, August 21st, 2008, Appelman Financial sponsored a very
important seminar in conjunction with the local Area Aging Office
. The
event was held at Portabella Catering in Lightstreet.  The special evening was
dedicated to Medicare basics, purchasing supplemental insurance, and the
Medicare drug program as well as Long-Term Care Insurance and the PACE/
PACE Net programs.  Sandy Darlington's presentation was pure gold as she
discussed issues Lynn felt all senior citizens need to know about.  Watch next
year for our upcoming informational workshops for clients and community
members alike!  If you have any ideas for seminars you'd be interested in
learning more about, please share your ideas with us...

Appelman Financial was pleased to offer a special Identity Theft Workshop on
the evening of May 29, 2008 at Portabella Catering in Lightstreet.  We had 55
attendees, either clients or interested community members, join us for a special
presentation provided by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) followed by
refreshments and dessert.  In this presentation titled
"Deter, Detect, Defend--
How to Protect Your Identity"
, our guests were able to learn about the basics
of identity theft and steps people can take to reduce their risk and protect
their identity.  We felt it was an important financial topic to discuss as according
to the FTC it effects as many as 10 million Americans each year!

Please contact us if you wish us to send a seminar packet of information
to your home!

Lynn Appelman had the pleasure to speak in front of a Bloomsburg
University Finance class
on April 7th, 2008.  Here he is pictured with Ms.
Christine Haririan, a BU Instructor of Finance, who invited him to speak in front
of her class.  The course was titled "Personal Finance Decisions" and he
spoke to approximately 30 undergraduate students.  Lynn had a wonderful
time and he was most impressed with the caliber of questions he was asked
during the Q&A portion of the evening.  He thought it was a terrific idea to
reach young adults with the financial basics that everyone should know.
Especially with saving for retirement as it is never to early to start!
It was a great pleasure to host a Social Security 101 workshop on Monday,
October 5th, 2009.  This incredibly informative presentation was held at the
Holiday inn Express in Buckhorn.  Our guest speaker for the evening was Mr.
Guy Luongo, District Manager with the Social Security Administration.  He
reviewed information pertaining to retirement benefits, how working affects
benefits, spousal and survivor benefits and Medicare.  He also discussed
many of the functions that can be done on-line such as estimating benefits and
signing up for Social Security by using their website at
www.socialsecurity.gov.  Lynn Appelman was able to follow up the
presentation and discuss some other items regarding social security such as
how to determine when might be a good time to take social security and
things you can do to minimize taxes on your benefits.
