Bloomsburg University CFP Discussion
Lynn Appelman had the pleasure to speak in front of a Bloomsburg
University class
on November 3, 2011.  He is pictured here with Ms.
Christine Haririan, a BU Instructor of Finance, who has invited him to speak in
front of her class several times.  This time, he gave a talk about the Certified
Financial Planning designation specifically and he spoke to about 25 students
who were interested in becoming Financial Advisors as a profession.  Lynn
enjoyed speaking with the class and fielded some terrific questions about the
industry with students from various majors.
Lynn recently spoke to a Bloomsburg University class titled "Financial
Markets and Institutions".  He spoke to two different class sections on
Tuesday, December 6, 2011.  The theme of the day's discussions centered
around life insurance.  Here he is pictured with the instructor Victoria Geyfman
as well as a photo of the afternoon session's class.  He really enjoyed listening
to the college students' thoughts and questions.

Lynn presented an educational seminar titled "Windows of Opportunity for
Tax Planning in 2011"
to our clients and local community members as well.
It was held on Tuesday, April 5th at 6:30 at the Links of Hemlock Creek in
Buckhorn, PA.   New tax laws passed in December 2010 extended some of
the tax reductions fr previous year for a one or two year period.  This allows a
window of opportunity for taxpayers to review and consider potential planning
strategies.  Topics discussed included Income Tax Rates, Capital Gains Tax,
Taxation of Dividend Income, Estate Tax Schedules, Medicare Tax Surcharge
and AMT Calculations.

Appelman Financial hosted an informational seminar titled the
"Estate Planning Essentials Workshop" at the Pine Barn Inn on
Wednesday, November 9, 2011.  We had 60 attendees come to listen to a
presentation and to have dinner with Lynn and local attorney Susan Lynch.
Susan has been practicing law since 1987 and her law office specializes in
Estate Planning and Administration, Special Needs Planning and Social
Security Disability.  Topics of discussion for the evening included "Is your
estate properly protected?" and "Is your wealth and health scheduled to be
handled according to your wishes?"
